RentalEngine integration
Let your members log into RentalEngine with their Somiti account. You connect the two once, and after that members click Login with Somiti on RentalEngine instead of creating a separate password.
Connect to RentalEngine
You’ll need an admin or manager role in both Somiti and RentalEngine.
- Go to Settings > Integrations and find RentalEngine.
- Enter your RentalEngine subdomain (the part before
.rentalengine.net, for examplemyclub). - Click Connect to RentalEngine.
- Somiti redirects you to RentalEngine to confirm the connection. You’ll need to be logged in as an admin or manager there too.
- Confirm the connection on RentalEngine.
You’re redirected back to Somiti with a green Connected badge. The integration page shows the linked RentalEngine URL, when you connected, who set it up, and how many times members have used SSO to sign in.
Your members can now use “Login with Somiti” on RentalEngine.
Note: Each Somiti community can connect to one RentalEngine community. To switch to a different one, disconnect first and reconnect.
How members log in
When a member clicks Login with Somiti on RentalEngine:
- They’re redirected to Somiti.
- If they’re not already logged in, they sign into Somiti first.
- Somiti shows an authorization screen with their name, email, and avatar, plus a note that RentalEngine will receive their name and email.
- They click Continue to RentalEngine.
- They’re redirected back to RentalEngine, signed in.
If they click Cancel, they go back to their Somiti dashboard. No data is shared.
Disconnect from RentalEngine
- Go to Settings > Integrations and find RentalEngine.
- Click Disconnect.
- Confirm in the dialog.
After disconnecting, the Login with Somiti button on RentalEngine stops working for your members. You can reconnect at any time by going through the setup again.
Troubleshooting
Members can’t log in through RentalEngine
- Check that the connection is still active in Settings > Integrations > RentalEngine. You should see a green “Connected” badge.
- Make sure the member has an account in your Somiti community. SSO only works for existing members. See Members for how to add someone.
- Ask the member to clear their browser cookies and try again.
Connection setup fails
- Confirm the RentalEngine subdomain is correct.
- Make sure you have admin or manager access in both Somiti and RentalEngine.
- If too much time passes between starting the connection and confirming on RentalEngine, the link expires. Start the process again from Settings > Integrations > RentalEngine.
“Already connected” message
- You can only connect to one RentalEngine community at a time. Click Disconnect first, then connect to the new one.
Member sees “Unable to Complete Sign-in” error
- The login link may have expired. Have them go back to RentalEngine and click Login with Somiti again.
- If the error mentions a community mismatch, the RentalEngine community may not be the one you connected to. Check your connection details in Settings > Integrations > RentalEngine.
