We spent a whole board meeting figuring out who paid dues.
That's why Somiti exists. It's membership management software for volunteer-run clubs and community groups. Members, events, payments, one place, so your board meetings can be about your community again.

How we got here
We were running a local professional networking group. About 200 members, monthly meetups, annual dues of $40 per person. On paper, straightforward.
In practice: member names and emails in a Google Sheet that three different board members edited (and none of them agreed on). Event RSVPs through Google Forms that nobody remembered to close after the event. Dues tracked in a separate spreadsheet that was always a month behind, because the treasurer had to manually match bank deposits to names. Announcements went out by email, except when they went out on Facebook, except when someone just texted the group chat.
Every month, the board meeting started the same way. "How many active members do we have?" Silence. Someone would pull up the spreadsheet. Someone else would say that spreadsheet was outdated. We'd spend twenty minutes on admin before getting to anything that mattered.
So we looked for software. What we found was either built for 50,000-member professional associations (with the complexity and price tag to match), or it was a glorified mailing list with a payment button bolted on. Nothing fit a group like ours: real enough to need proper tools, small enough that nobody's getting paid to run it.
We started building Somiti for ourselves. Members, events, payments, in one place that the whole board could access. No training manual. No IT person needed.
We're still early. Somiti is a small team building software that we use ourselves. We don't have thousands of customers or a slick investor pitch. What we've got is a product that handles the admin work we used to spend our weekends on, and a belief that other volunteer-run groups are dealing with the same mess we were.
If that sounds like your group, we'd love for you to try it and tell us what's missing.

If your group runs on spreadsheets, duct-taped tools, and one person who knows where everything is, you're not unusual. You're the norm. That's the problem.

How we think about building this
If a feature needs a manual, we redesign it.
Your treasurer is a volunteer with a full-time job. They don't have time for a training session. Every screen in Somiti should make sense the first time they see it. If it doesn't, that's our problem, not theirs.
Every feature ships because a volunteer asked for it.
We don't build features because they look good on a comparison chart. We build them because someone running a real group told us they needed it. If nobody's asked for it, it doesn't go in.
We make money from subscriptions. Your data never gets sold.
You pay for Somiti (or use the Circle plan). That's the business. We don't sell your member list. We don't show ads. We don't do "anonymized data partnerships." Your members' information belongs to your organization.
Who Somiti is for (and who it's not for)
Built for
Volunteer-run clubs and community organizations with 20 to 2,000 members.
Cultural associations. Sports leagues and rec clubs. Parent-teacher groups. Alumni networks. Hobby clubs. Neighborhood associations. Professional networking groups.
Groups where the people running things don't get paid to do it, and the biggest tech challenge is getting everyone to check their email.
If you're a volunteer who's tired of spreadsheets, this is for you.
Probably not for
Enterprise-scale associations with 50,000+ members and dedicated IT staff. You need something bigger than us, and that's fine.
Organizations that need CRM-style sales pipelines, lead scoring, or marketing automation. That's a different kind of tool.
Groups that need custom development or white-label solutions built from scratch. Somiti is opinionated software, not a blank canvas.
No hard feelings. We'd rather be honest than waste your time.
Your community deserves more than your leftover hours.
Let Somiti handle the admin so you can spend your volunteer time on the people, not the paperwork.
