Notifications
Somiti sends you notifications when things happen in your community: a payment goes through, an event is coming up, or someone posts an announcement. You can read them in the app or get them by email. You control which ones you want.
View your notifications
Your notifications live in the Notifications page, which you can reach from the main navigation.
Unread notifications appear highlighted. Each one shows the message and how long ago it arrived.
From the list you can:
- Click View to open the related record (an event, payment, etc.)
- Click Mark read to clear the highlight on a single notification
- Click the trash icon to delete a notification
- Click Mark all as read (top right) to clear everything at once
Clicking a notification title opens it on its own page, which also marks it as read automatically.
Change notification preferences
You control two things for each notification type: whether it shows up in the app, and whether Somiti also sends you an email.
- Go to Settings in the sidebar.
- Click Notification Preferences.
- You’ll see a table with every notification type. Each row has two checkboxes: Email and In-App.
- Check or uncheck the boxes for the notifications you want.
- Click Save Preferences.
Your changes take effect immediately.
Note: Disabling in-app notifications for a type stops it from appearing in your notification list. Disabling email stops the email but leaves the in-app notification on, unless you turn that off too.
Notification types

| Event waitlist promoted | You moved off the waitlist into a confirmed spot |
| Announcement published | Your community posted a new announcement |
| Payment reminder | A payment is due |
| Payment overdue | A payment is past due |
| Payment confirmation | A payment went through successfully |
| Import complete | A member import you started has finished |
| Welcome | You joined the community |
| Birthday | It’s your birthday |
| Custom admin | A message sent directly by your admin |
Turn off email notifications
If you want to stop receiving emails but keep seeing notifications in the app:
- Go to Settings > Notification Preferences.
- In each row, uncheck the Email checkbox.
- Leave the In-App checkbox checked if you still want to see those notifications in Somiti.
- Click Save Preferences.
You can turn off emails for specific types without touching the others. For example, you can keep payment confirmation emails but turn off event reminder emails.
Note: Some emails, like password resets, come from your account settings and aren’t controlled here.
